Artist profile
My work deals with notions and perception of
scale and reality.
It looks at the value of documentation and reproductions of work,
and how this reproduction through the lens, affects the nature, and
interest of the work.
Does the reproduction add to, or take away from the work? Whatever
the medium an artist works in there in they must have a knowledge
of lens based media in order to document their work and make it 'real'
to a wider audience, I'm interested in how this can be used advantageously
to make something look more appealing than it is in reality.
This is true of all things, not just art; from the products in an
Ikea catalogue to the events of your life in a photo album.
At the moment I'm making models of fictitious rooms and spaces, often
cliched white walled, wooden floored spaces. Within these spaces are
installations, incorporating objects, film projection, light and printed
images.
These are then documented using photographs and video, and displayed
without the model.
