beautiful, typically feminine materials such as lace, net, ribbons

My work is inspired by aesthetically beautiful,
typically feminine materials such as lace, net, ribbons and doilies.
These are linked to concepts of feminity, childhood and security.
I am obsessed with using an organic approach, whereby the physicality
of the materials is essential.

I need to manipulate materials but also need to be
encapsulated, smothered and almost 'overtaken' by these.
I am captivated by the intensity of detail around us; we often ignore
it as we only have time to concentrate on the essentials, never counting
how many cracks are in the pavement or bricks in a wall.
I delve into this world of detail using the camera to surround myself
with the beauty, intricacy and fragility of net lace etc
The images I create are like environments, an 'Alice In Wonderland'
experience or a beautiful dream which can be felt or entered into.
I desire the viewer to have a close relationship with my images.
