As children we all laughed at Poo Poo jokes and references, enjoying the glorious naughtiness of the subject matter.

Now Nick Emm (aka Otto Flood) from Nottinghamshire has broken new ground and announced to the world that it is okay to laugh about something we all do every day.

About the books Nick says: "People either love 'em or hate 'em."

His series of stories follow the lives of Floater, Sweetcorn, Veggie, Jobby, Trodin and Plopstar and their adventures are set in Windy Bottom Park.

These are 'crossover' books, so although they deliberately have the look and feel of childrens books, they work on several levels.

Nick dreamt up Poo Poo People five years ago yet it wasn't until recently he acted on the idea:

"I called the Waterstones Head Office in August last year. I explained that I thought I had something 'different' , but I found myself almost frightened to say the series title."

"Finally and apologetically I said that the series was called 'Poo Poo People'. The answer I received knocked me backwards: "Don't apologise Nick, Poo Poo sells. When can I see them?""

I had great fun developing the characters and loosely based their personalities on people I knew.

In just six short weeks Nick had written and illustrated six books and set up Edo Press Limited in Radford. Why Radford? "Radford rocks!"

What now? Nick plans to attempt to penetrate the gift market and produce six more Poo Poo titles.
