9 upcoming albums that will inevitably make 2017 a better year
Lorde is coming back with new music
What do her mysterious new video and website mean?
Welcome back Lorde! OK, so all we know about big return at this current point of time is in the few seconds of music she has posted in
But that is more than enough to get us excited.
Nothing has been announced, nothing has been revealed but we know new Lorde music is on the way, which means 2017 will be welcoming back another pop superstar and therefore, this year is suddenly all the more exciting.
Here's more info on Lorde and eight more pop albums that will inevitably make 2017 a little bit amazing.
Lorde: Album TBA
It has been four years since Lorde released her debut album, Pure Heroine, in 2013. It was a moody, atmospheric and powerful collection of tracks from a ridiculously talented teenager.
The party is about to start. I am about to show you the new worldLorde
But she's a 20 year old now and the jubilant piano heard in her teaser clip is a million miles from the downbeat beats of her first hits Royals, Tennis Court and Team.
She also promised fans a very different album in a Facebook post in November 2016, saying her second album would be more of a "party" record.
"Writing Pure Heroine was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record - well, this one is about what comes next," she wrote.
"The party is about to start. I am about to show you the new world."
Ed Sheeran: Album due 3 March 2017
It's pretty much a given that third album, ÷, will be one of the biggest records of 2017.
Already, singles Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill have been huge hits across the world and third (it's not a single) track How Would Feel (Paean) has followed suit.
Between albums he wrote Love Yourself and Cold Water, so if these were the songs he was happy to give away, how good are the nine songs on the record we're yet to hear?
He's setting his sights on the new record and says only sales like will keep him happy this time around.
"Adele is the one person who’s sold more records than me in the past ten years," he said in a recent interview with GQ. "She’s the only person I need to sell more records than.
"If I don’t set her as the benchmark then I’m selling myself short."
Katy Perry: Album TBA
is yet to announce her fifth studio album (get a move on, KP) but her campaign has kicked off in style, with lead single Chained To The Rhythm becoming a huge hit across the world.
In 2016 she told US radio host Ryan Seacreast that fans could expect a varied record and that she was working with a number of collaborators.
"I'm just having a lot of fun, but experimenting and trying different producers, and different collaborators, and different styles," she said.
But fans can also expect to hear a more political album from Katy, having been active during Hillary Clinton's 2016 presidential campaign and an outspoken critic of President Trump.
Lana Del Rey: Album TBA
rushed her 2017 comeback due to her lead single Love leaking online, but she was fine with that.
It was fun to get back into that really big clean soundLana Del Rey
"It just started leaking the other day so we just got ahead of it and put it out," in February.
She also told the Radio 1 presenter that her next album would sound very different to the dark sounds heard on her two previous releases, Ultraviolence and Honeymoon.
"I definitely was in a place where I wanted to hear mood music," she said of her previous records.
"Now that I’m a couple of years down the line away from the Ultraviolence record, I think I had more I wanted to say and I wanted it to come through a little bit more clearly, so it was fun to get back into that really big, like clean sound."
Zara Larsson: Album due 17 March 2017
new album, So Good, already sounds like a greatest hits collection, having already produced five huge singles.
Never Forget You, Lush Life, Ain't My Fault, I Would Like and So Good have all been favourites at Radio 1 and she has scored massive hits across the world.
Much of the record is still under wraps, but she has collaborated with , and many more on the record. We're expecting big things from the album, and Zara herself, in 2017.
Dua Lipa: Album due 2 June 2017
Trying to get to stick to an album release date hasn't been easy but she has promised that her debut album will be with us in June.
The release date has moved several times, but that has mostly been because she has been getting so famous that she keeps working with bigger people and writing better songs. Her recent collaborations with and , for instance.
"I’m a perfectionist and want to deliver the best album I can," she said in a message to fans in January 2017.
So long as everything is as good as Be The One, we're very happy to wait.
The Chainsmokers: Album due 7 April 2017
never planned to release an album but they became so famous they were forced to bow from pressure from fans and put a record together.
But if you're expecting to hear all the hits, you might be mistaken. Rozes, Don't Let Me Down, Closer and This Is All We Know won't appear on the album, having already been released as part of previous EPs.
The album's first official release was their Top Ten single Paris and the album Memories... Do Not Open will also include their new collaboration, Something Just Like This.
Louisa Johnson: Album TBA
won The X Factor in 2015 but she has taken time with her debut album to make sure she releases a quality pop album and we don't doubt that's exactly what she has in store.
"It's very different to what people may expect... It's a lot more edgy and darkLouisa Johnson
She has yet to announce her first full-length release, but she promises fans will be in for some surprises when they finally hear it.
"It's very different to what people may expect," she told Radio 1 in 2016.
"It's a lot more edgy and dark but there's also songs for people who are young - like my little sister - but then my mum and dad like them too. Anyone can like the songs on there."
She has already scored a major hit with her single So Good and has the next taste of the album, Best Behaviour, due for release in March.
Mura Masa: Album due later in 2017
UK producer first appeared on the 大象传媒's Sound Of 2016 shortlist and spent the year crafting perfect singles such as What If I Go and Love$ick.
His debut album, To Fall Out Of Love To, is due for release later this year and Alex Crossan (the man behind Mura Masa) has promised that despite having worked on the record in various studios across the world, the album will keep the low-key vibe fans first fell for.
"I feel like people yearn for that lonely bedroom sound," he said in an interview with DIY.
"That’s why I chose not to upgrade myself too much for the album."
