What was the impact of the Depression on Germany?

Berlin in the 1920s and the boom in film, theatre, cabaret and music are described. Hitler's view on this is then highlighted via a reading from 'Mein Kampf'. The collapse of German interwar prosperity is examined, with an analysis of the impact of the Wall Street Crash. The response is divided into immediate concerns of the German people and then the political repercussions. The reasons why people began to turn from the Weimar Republic to extremist parties is assessed, with a particular focus on why working class Germans turned to the communists. The footage ends with a description of how the Nazis changed tactics to take advantage of the Depression.
