Originally from Thailand, Nawamin currently lives in Oxford with four housemates whilst studying for a PhD. Growing up in a very traditional Thai household, it would be custom for the mother to pass on her cooking knowledge to her daughter. However, Nawamin is one of three boys and was the only one to find a love for cooking.

His grandmother is his greatest cooking influence and Nawamin lived with her for a few years. His grandmother’s house was almost self-sufficient, so they hardly needed to go shopping for ingredients.

Nawamin is excited to bring traditional Thai dishes to MasterChef but with British fusion in his food. He doesn’t like to eat the same thing twice and can even end up cooking a three-course meal just for himself after a long working day. Living in a multi-cultural household, he is also brushing up on Italian and Greek cuisines.

One day he hopes to open a charity restaurant where the funds would help those who can’t afford medical care in Thailand.
