When David was 17, his parents went on holiday leaving him alone with two full freezers of food. Previously he’d eaten only a staple diet of ham sandwiches, roast dinners, chicken Kievs and chips. When his parents came back, he was a changed person, eating anything and everything. This is when David fell in love with food.

As an airline captain, David has flown around the world and food is one way he explores a new culture. There’s not many cuisines he hasn’t tried and though his staple is British Classics, he also enjoys cooking Japanese, Thai, Indian and Chinese.

Heston Blumenthal is David’s favourite chef. He loves that Heston taught himself by ripping up the rule book and pushes food to its limits. David loves the way Heston’s brain works and reckons he could cook the best version of anything.

During his spare time David likes keeping fit and gardening.
