Yulia Mennibaeva

Mezzo from Russia - 31 years old

I was born in the beautiful city of Yaroslavl in Russia.

From 2005 to 2010 I studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory. In 2012 I graduated from the Popov Academy of Choral Arts in Moscow and completed my assistantship there in 2015. I have achieved success at several competitions, including second prize and special prize for the best performance of Russian music at the International Competition Francisco Viñas in Barcelona, 2016.

I am a soloist of the Kolobov Novaya Opera Theatre of Moscow, where roles I have performed include Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Maddalena (Rigoletto), Olga (Eugene Onegin), Kontchakovna (Prince Igor), Vanya (A Life for the Tsar), Fenena (Nabucco) and Spring (The Snow Maiden).

On the concert stage, I have performed in Verdi’s Requiem in Locarno and Milan, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle in my home town of Yaroslavl, Vivaldi’s Gloria, Mozart’s Requiem and Karl Jenkins’ Mass The Armed Man in Moscow.

In 2017 I performed Amelfa (The Golden Cockerel) at the Concertgebouw, Geneviève (Pelléas et Mélisande) in Oviedo in 2018, and Bersi (Andrea Chénier) in Barcelona in 2018 with Jonas Kaufmann as Andrea Chénier. In Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Festival last year, I sang Delilah (Samson and Delilah), and earlier this year I sang the role of Ulrica (Un ballo in maschera) in Tel Aviv with Israeli Opera.

When I’m not singing, I try to spend time with my family. My sоn Yaroslav is six years old, and I’m really enjoying watching him grow up.
