Architect featured in Building Dream Homes
My parents have an interest in art and my father was a design engineer, so from an early age I was keen on art and design and ultimately a career in Architecture.
I started my architectural education in 1990 at the Birmingham School of Architecture, University of Central England where I gained a BA Honours Degree in Architecture.
After graduating, I lived and worked in Hong Kong for a firm of architects on a year placement.
On returning to the UK, I continued my training at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London, graduating in 1997 with a diploma in architecture.
I then spent the following year working at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios, as a computer modeller, animator and graphic designer, working as part of the production team for Lost in Space and Event Horizon.
In 1998 I joined the Moving Picture Company [MPC], a post-production company based in Soho in London. Here, I continued to develop and progress computer visualisation, animation and graphic design skills, whilst working on numerous television, video and film projects.
In 1999 my wife and I moved to Poole where I joined a large multi-disciplinary practice in Bournemouth. This is where and I first worked together and quickly established a dynamic working relationship with a shared interest, approach and philosophy towards design and architecture.
Shortly after fully qualifying and becoming a chartered member of the RIBA, Laurence and I were instrumental as design directors in setting up a new Architects Practice based in Ringwood, Hampshire. We soon gained a wealth of experience working on large projects within education, residential and commercial sectors and in 2007 decided to set up rbstudio on our own.
At rbstudio we have a passion for all aspects of design and strongly believe that architecture and design plays a fundamental role in all our lives. Well designed spaces and environments have a positive impact on our lifestyle and sense of being.
