You'll be flying to the Fank then?

Scallowawife dusno give hersel enough credit. She has survived a Swan voyage to Fair Isle fae Scallowa, and north again to Lerook withoot spewin once. And this was a journey when I (a Swan veteran) spewed spectacularly aff da stern a few miles north o Fair Isle.

can I fly to the fank - ? someone suggested going on the 'paper plane' to Inverness, its apparently very cheap - now that is a frightening thought for a nervous traveller.
scallowawife from somewhere in scotland, on a train.
We should start an exclusive club called the SODS (Spewed On Da Swan)! I can also claim membership, but not as strong a stomach. As to Scallowawife - Safe Trip. Will wave as you pass Hatston.

Of course you can fly to the fank? one way or de udder (forgive my English). On Fanking: In despair at my continued ignorance (which maya be bliss), I called the Shetland Tourist Office in Lerwick. Amiable, courteous, efficient, but this time the lone holder of the fort (the others did not make it because of the snow, or she was still there because of the snow pile in front of the door) was stumped. Fank? Never heard of it. I spelled it. She wondered silently (she's a professional) whether it was some sick joke from yet another Yankee. "Sir, are you sure?" "Yes, ma'am" said I, "and I don't mean just sheep's pens either." "Where did you hear about it?" said the lady. "Northern Isles 大象传媒 blogging," I replied with hauteur. "I see ..." and she trailed off. [I was too scared to ask her what she saw!]. I helped her out of her misery (those folks, you should know, are professionals who take it personally when they can't help) by thanking her and putting down the telephone (transatlantic calls are not free ,,,). My next call will be to the LIberal MP for the northern Isles, and if he does not know, I may well write to Westminster to ask that he be sent to the Chilterns.

mjc-for full Fank explanation you must look at Calumannabel's blogs. He's on the western isles site, & mak sure you look at the archives.

Checked Calumannabel's blogs. No wonder the folks at the Shetland Tourist Office did not know about Fanks (or if they did/do, they are not letting the tourists in on it!!). Scallowawife may go, but I think I'll stick to the Up Helly Aas...
