Hang in there. Take a deep breath. Remember: there are many worse situations that ordinary people find themselves in, out of the blue, through no fault of their own. Diagnosis of yourself or a loved one with a fourth stage cancer, or some incurable and painful disease could be one. Fatal accidents or one that requires long term hospitalization far away in the mainland. The litany is long. I am not minimizing problems, but don't get yourself down, F.I. Problems don't blow away with the wind, but tomorrow is indeed another day, for those of us lucky to have tomorrow. Chin up. Thinking of you.

Ach I know, our problems are minute compared to what other folks have. Just gets you down no end when faced with maby having to try and find the $$ for a new washing machine & makes you even more depressed when the sums are done & you cant even contemplate that amount of $$ for a few months. Anyhoo ! good news is, Mr FI managed to fix it ! To say relief is an understatement.

I remember someone saying that they went to get their ram to put in wi the ewes - and he was lying feet up - dead - and no spare ram to hand....

Mr FI must be very handy to have around. I usually take two aspirins before grabbing a hammer, and usually need bandaids and several pain relieving pins afterwards. My traditional final words? "I tried!"

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it...

Pain relieving pins? I meant to write "pills"! No acupuncture for me, no exotica, thank you.

Hi Scallo., I did not realize you work your rams to death in Shetland. Holy mackerel, you Shetlanders are a hard bunch. Hopefully you had some life giving elixir stashed away in the freezer, just for such an emergency, Scallo.?

After a few to many *ill fix the toaster* episodes... We didnt hold out for much when he opted to look at the washing machine. It works, tis all that matters ! with 4 kids, no washing machine is a mega headache.

Four kids would make light work of tramping the clothes in the bath...but then there's the problem of where to hang all that dripping stuff...

Snap - ours broke this week too and the washing was trapped inside. Luckily we could buy a new pump for 拢18 and it works again fine!! It's a bit further to the shop for you though. Glad you could find one too. 拢18 is better than 拢300!

The washing machine - the 8th wonder of the world! When a student I used to tramp clothes in the bath, didn't think that bairns could be trusted with such skilled pedl labour. The I found a home with a washing machine.... bliss! Hope that a Fairy Godmother or SC (= Scolding Cat) brings the spare parts needed.
