FI, I have almost been the mummy of two little abandoned lambies for this past week ... The first was a cheviot girl, one of twins, who had been abandoned by their mum, and was being fed powdered lambie-milk, and kept warm ... She didn't make it unfortunately ... The latest is a hebridean black lambie, same abandonment, same feeding, but I'm thinking that these mums don;t abandon lightly, and am still waiting to hear whether said lambie made it through the weekend ... I hope so anyhow ... :-)

Take solace SP, getting cade lambs through those first few days is seriously hard work, you can loose them at the drop of a hat through no fault of your own. We were very lucky last year to have all 5 of ours survive. Its wierd what makes a ewe abandon, we had a ewe last year who having had just a single lamb for 2 years running, when she had twins, she refused to have anything to do with the 2nd lamb. Nature is the boss here im afraid, all we can do is lend a hand where needed.
