Hampshire's leading run scorer this season, Nick Gubbins, reaches his fourth half-century of the campaign.
It's been a mightily important one for his side too with wickets falling cheaply at the other end.
Warwickshire 292 v Lancashire 197-4
A good session for Lancashire comes to a close. They've added 125 runs for the loss of two wickets.
Steven Croft (65 not out) will be looking for his third century of the season to help the visitors build some sort of lead at Edgbaston.
Somerset 180 v Surrey 247-4
Will Jacks and Cameron Steel have regained the initiative for Surrey with an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 65.
Rory Burns' 113 put the visitors in control but, when he was caught at slip of Roelof van der Merwe, they were just two runs ahead of Somerset - with Hashim Amla yet to resume batting after feeling unwell overnight.
But Jacks (45 not out) and Steel (22no) have extended their side's advantage to a handy 67 at the interval.

Durham have declared at tea on day two of their game at home to Worcestershire, with both Ben Raine and Paul Coughlin recording their first hundreds in first-class cricket.
Coughlin pipped Raine by two deliveries to finish on 100, while Raine hit a four to reach three figures and ended up on 103 not out. The Durham total of 642-7 declared is their third highest and their best against Worcestershire by eight runs.
The eighth wicket stand was a record 213, breaking the 154 Ben Raine put on here with Brydon Carse against Northants in 2019.
On a wicket which seemed to offer little to the Worcestershire attack it was a tough five sessions for the visitors, who ended up being in the field for 155 overs.

Matthew Waite gets one to nip back in to James Vince and it strikes the Hampshire captain on the pad. Up goes the finger.
Vince doesn't look overly happy. It might have been going down leg.
Division Two latest
Durham skipper Scott Borthwick gives Ben Raine and Paul Coughlin the chance to bring up their centuries and then calls his players in. Raine and Coughlin shared a Durham record eighth-wicket stand of 213.
Middlesex are fighting back against Derbyshire at Chesterfield. Toby Roland-Jones has taken four wickets with the hosts collapsing from 175-2 to 229-8.
Glamorgan are still going along really well against Sussex. They're 145-1 with Colin Ingram on 82.
Notts are also looking good with the bat at Leicestershire on 168-2. Haseeb Hameed was out for 59 but Ben Duckett has raced to 64 off 66 balls.

Ben Compton brings up the hundred partnership with Daniel Bell-Drummond, clipping Tom Price away for two on the leg side.
Bell-Drummond, with 67, has contributed exactly two thirds of their second-wicket stand (or as close as we can get without mathematical precision).
Kent are nicely placed, but still trail Gloucestershire by 328.
Somerset 180 v Surrey 220-4
There's an interesting duel developing between Marchant de Lange and Will Jacks, with Somerset sensing a way back into the game.
De Lange has tested Jacks with a range of short deliveries, but the Surrey batter responded by pulling him through midwicket for four and he's advanced to 33 not out.
Cameron Steel has been more, well - steely, with just eight to his name so far.
Durham 612-7 v Worcestershire
Durham continue to pile on the runs at Chester-le-Street.
They've now gone past 600 with Ben Raine and Paul Coughlin, both on 87, sharing a record eighth-wicket stand for Durham.
It's worth 183 and counting.
Warwickshire 292 v Lancashire 154-4
Steven Croft goes past fifty for the third time this season.
The other two, he's converted into centuries. Lancashire could do with a bit more of that today!

Glamorgan’s South African left-hander Colin Ingram rolled back the years with a sumptuous series of straight drives in a run-a-ball half-century.
Ingram nearly played on to Jack Brooks on 9 but made the most of his reprieve, peppering the straight and cover boundaries.
Ingram and Eddie Byrom, playing his first Championship game of the season, fought back hard in a century stand, after David Lloyd fell before lunch to Sean Hunt for two.
That capped a superb first session for Sussex with Oli Carter, 20, taking his career-best score to 185 before being last out slogging at Andrew Salter.
Glamorgan had Andrew Gorvin replacing Covid victim Michael Hogan while sub Tom Cullen kept wicket in place of Chris Cooke, who has a calf injury.
Kent 87-1 v Gloucestershire 438
Image source, Getty ImagesDaniel Bell-Drummond's return to red-ball cricket has brought an upturn in form after his rather lean spell in the T20 Blast.
Bell-Drummond - who registered big scores against Yorkshire and Northamptonshire in the first block of Championship games, has reached his half-century from 87 balls.
He and Ben Compton have built steadily at Canterbury since lunch and it's the turn of Gloucestershire's bowlers to become a little frustrated.

Dane Vilas gets an inside edge onto his pad and Sam Hain clings on at leg slip.
The game is back in the balance after a stand of 69 is broken.

Durham have continued to make progress in the session after lunch here in Chester-le-Street on day two.
Ben Raine (78) and Paul Coughlin (48) have put on 133 runs. The question now is when will the skipper call a halt to this innings?
Durham made 580-6 declared at New Road in early May and that one ended in a draw.
They were short boundaries on that occasion and four of their players scored hundreds. It's a much bigger playing surface this week but they still need to give themselves plenty of time to take wickets. I can't imagine they will be out there much longer.
Somerset 180 v Surrey 200-4
Surrey have earned their first batting bonus point at Taunton, but Somerset's bowlers have gained an element of control that wasn't there when Rory Burns was making hay in the first hour this morning.
Will Jacks and Cameron Steel are doing their best to rebuild after the wickets of Jamie Smith and Burns and they'll want to extend Surrey's lead of 20 much further.
Warwickshire 292 v Lancashire 133-3
Steven Croft (38 not out) and Dane Vilas (35 not out) are going along well for Lancashire at Edgbaston.
You feel the visitors are just taking a bit of an upper hand in the game, but a wicket would change all that of course.
Hants 40-2 v Yorkshire 428
Nick Gubbins and James Vince have just steadied things for Hampshire after those early couple of wickets.
Yorkshire are still well on top though with Hants trailing by 388.

It's pitched outside off stump and Rory Burns can only edge it into the waiting hands of first slip.
Suddenly Surrey's prospects of building a sizeable lead over their hosts are looking a little less certain...
Warwickshire 292 v Lancashire 102-3
Lancashire have just brought up their hundred at Edgbaston.
Nothing between the two teams here.
Durham have gone past 500 against Worcestershire. They're 525-7 with Ben Raine and Paul Coughlin sharing 96 for the eighth wicket.
Derbyshire are in control against Middlesex on 173-2, replying to the Division Two leaders' 251 all out in the first innings.
Glamorgan are going well on 70-1 after Sussex made 376 all out.
And Notts are also well set on 77-1 against Leicestershire with Haseeb Hameed on 47. They still trail the Foxes by 363.
