Deepti Sharma edges a Kate Cross delivery but even with the hard new ball it falls short of Sophie Ecclestone at slip. Ecclestone can't prevent it going for four either.

Sneh Rana follows up by bashing Kate Cross through the covers. England want this day to end.

Sneh Rana is a more than capable batter. She scored an unbeaten 80 in the Test between these sides at Bristol and can hang around. Deepti Sharma was made for Test batting: more blocks than a Lego convention.

England would take anything here but they've already had their stroke of fortune with the run-out of Harmanpreet Kaur. As it stands this session is going to go the way of the previous two - two early wickets and then a partnership that frustrates England.

It was Lauren Bell and Kate Cross who bowled the India openers early on this morning. England will be desperate for one more breakthrough at least tonight.

It's all a bit quiet. The England players are looking a little red.

It's tough out there, especially when you don't play much multi-day cricket.

There's no joy for Cross on her return with the over including one optimistic lbw shout. Lauren Bell returns at the other end.

Sophie Ecclestone drops short again and Rana repeats the trick of finding the boundary. Ecclestone is getting more and more annoyed. This times she throws her arms out wide and looks to the skies.

Short and wide from Charlie Dean... crunched for four by Deepti Sharma. Heather Knight has had enough and sends a fielder out onto the boundary.

Lauren Filer's day has been hampered by one wayward ball an over. For much of her spells she has been good. This time she drifts too wide and Sneh Rana can cut for four.

Having said England coach Jon Lewis will be content, it feels like this day could still go either way. If these two see it through to the close then India will be far happier.
