Biography
Jason Donovan is an Australian actor, singer and West End star.
Career
In 1986 Jason shot to fame when he was cast as Scott Robinson in Neighbours. His character's most notable story was his onscreen romance and wedding to Charlene, who was played by Kylie Minogue. Jason won three Logie Awards, including 'Most Popular Actor' on Australian television; he has also received a commendation in the category 'Performance by a Male Actor In a Series' from the Television Society of Australia.
After signing recording contracts in both Australia and the UK, Jason left Neighbours in 1989 to pursue a career in music. Jason gained four UK number 1 singles with tracks such as Too Many Broken Hearts. He also featured on the 1989 Band Aid II's Do They Know It's Christmas?
In the 1990s, Jason made a move towards the big stage, taking on lead roles in the London Palladium version of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the UK touring production of The Rocky Horror Show. More recently, Jason took on the West End role of Tick in the UK musical version of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert.
Jason has also appeared in the ITV1 soap opera Echo Beach and in an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? Currently Jason can be heard on Heart Radio each Sunday afternoon.
Background
Jason's father Terence is an actor and his mother Sue is a former news reader - the couple divorced in 1972 when Jason was five.
In 1998, whilst working on the UK touring production of The Rocky Horror Show, Jason met his wife Angela Malloch. The pair have three children, Jemma, Zac and Molly, and got married in 2008.
