George Bizos
George Bizos was part of the team that defended Nelson Mandela and his ANC colleagues against charges of sabotage designed to overthrow the apartheid system.
Many in South Africa expected Nelson Mandela and the other defendants to be sentenced to death as an outcome of their Rivonia trial.
But despite the eight guilty verdicts, the defence team successfully argued the case for life imprisonment.
Mr Bizos has been recollecting the time of the trial and the months that followed the sentencing.
