Self-evaluation

The GROW model is a technique that can be used to self-evaluate your skills and performance.

GROW is an acronym and stands for:

  • Goal
  • Reality
  • Options
  • Way forward
Goal, Reality, Options, Way forward

Looking back on your project or challenge, ask yourself the following questions.

  • What was my project goal?
  • Did I achieve it (the reality)?
  • What options did I have in making it more successful?
  • Which skills could have made my performance better?
  • How am I going to improve or develop these skills?

Peer evaluation

Peer evaluation means asking your classmates to provide some feedback about your overall performance and skills. You could design a short questionnaire that asks your classmates to rate your skills and identify your strengths and areas to improve upon.

Stakeholder evaluation

evaluation means asking the people who have been affected by the community challenge to provide feedback, eg children that you coach or individuals who will benefit from a neighbourhood enhancement scheme. This could be about how satisfied they were with your engagement as well as asking them to rate your skills and identify strengths and areas to improve on.

Feedback from these evaluations can then help you to carry out a comprehensive personal reflection and create a development plan.
