Personal development plan
Once you鈥檝e completed a skills audit, you may wish to complete a personal development plan.
A personal development plan is a way of acquiring new skills or can help develop existing skills.
A plan can be made up of:
- development objectives
- activities
- support/resources
- key dates
Development objectives
This is where you list the soft and hard skills you wish to acquire or improve.
Activities
For each skill you wish to develop, you will need to think about how you can do this, eg if you wanted to develop your IT skills, you may wish to sign up to a free online course.
Support/resources
This is where you list any support that might help you to achieve your development objectives. For example, in order to develop your IT skills you will need a computer. You may also wish to ask for specific help from one of your teachers.
Key dates
Key dates can include review dates and dates that you set to complete the activities. Review dates will give you an opportunity to reflect on how well you are progressing. Are you working well in achieving your objectives or do you need to work harder?
