Decision making
Description
Teen Canteen is a catering project set up and run by a group of secondary students. The team and their business adviser discuss the importance of making decisions. They start with strategic decisions, which are then supported by tactical decisions and, at a lower level, operational decisions. These lower decisions should be made in relation to the overall strategy. The students also discuss the importance of communicating these decisions and ensuring different parts of the team work to these same goals.
Classroom Ideas
Using real life case studies, and local businesses they are familiar with, students should put together a presentation on the strategic, tactical and operational decisions that have been made about the business. Keeping the overall strategy in mind, they should consider the success of each decision based on how they relate to this strategy.
