How to make a computer game
Description
Many different elements go into making a computer game: deciding on the type of game, designing the pictures, animating the characters and choosing what will happen. We learn about why it鈥檚 important to make sure that the game gets progressively harder and rewards are given. The use of coding and algorithms is explained.
Classroom Ideas
The class could discuss which computer games they play at home. Where is the game set? What do the characters look like? What do you have to do? How do the characters move? The children could design their own game. Show them many different examples, and give them opportunities to play a few games so that they can develop their ideas. They could draw their character and the setting using art software and then record themselves explaining how the game is played. This would work well in small groups.
