I've something I feel I need to share.

My local petrol station, at Hillfoot in Bearsden, has for sale what is unquestionably the most indescribably tasteless thing I've ever come across.

It's a bust of Elvis that sings and talks to you, tells you things about Elvis's life. Worse, it doesn't really look like Elvis, more like a third rate Elvis impersonator, dressed in a cheap vinyl back jacket.

No doubt its a technical marvel, the girl in the petrol staton says it sounds great and is really convincing:it's lips,mouth and jaw moves (as you would expect) but I'd take some convincing.

It's £60:00.

But its so horrendous I'm tempted to buy it before it goes out of production. Only the cost of filling the car with petrol stopped me.

Thing is, I don't really much care for Elvis....maybe that's why I like it - I don't 'need' to be that interested...

is it me?.. have I finally lost it?.. or is the world full of folk who want to have a talking bust of a dead pop star in their lounge.....

what's next..Jimi Hendrix?....The Tsar of Russia?...Magus Magnassun?..Bryan Burnett..a new meaning to talking heads.. a collection of dinner party guests?

Maybe I could buy it as a trophy for 'blog of the year' (DC's in the lead) or as an alternative, award it to Bryan & Babs when they play a certain number of blog campaign songs....The Elvis's Bust Award for The Promotion of Lesser Known Tracks...but I feel I have to have it...help!!

Henri - I was going to ask you if it was the "Wowwee Alive Elvis: singing and talking bust" (just US$49.99 in the States). However,further investigation reveals that there are dozens if not hundreds of animated singing talking Elvis busts on the market!

I am now looking for Dolly Parton's bust - however my search engine keeps leading me astray from said task.
