@ the Captain... again the SUW is kind of like the WHW i.e. I've done it already by various sections. Some claim the Coast 2 Coast to be longer than SUW but as I haven't done any of it as yet it's this that is of greater interest.
@ Paul.. I'd liken seeing the Nuthatch to the time I saw a Kingfisher on the Kelvin whilst parking the car at the former Transport Museum & or a Capercaillie in the forest adjacent to Kingussie golf course. I hope Glen is gettin' all this info.

A friend of mine saw a kingfisher on the Kelvin. I saw one in Pollok Estate. I'm noticing more oystercatchers. Something is happening that suits them, squirrels, foxes and magpies.

I have seen the much lauded Rufus Wainwright live twice and listened to his albums but remain "Un-Rufusised".Even so,his parents were obviously impressed enough to sing and write songs about him.Daddy ,Loudon wrote "Rufus is a t*t man(boy ,did he get that wrong!)and mum,the sadly missed Kate,sang the brilliant"First Born Son".I used to go see the charming McGarrigle sisters every time they played Glasgow.What a sad loss when Kate died.Would be lovely to hear "First Born Son,Cheers ,Willie Bartke

I was gaunnae go for George Michael from his excellent Songs from the Twentieth Century covers album. Great version of Roxanne on there too. I've an excellent June Tabor version too, but that falls foul of the GiO 'nae folk other than Kate Rusby' rule.

In answer to the on-air questions tonight:

1) Yes we have had an Incredible String Band track - the Hedgehog Song, played very reluctantly after a very long campaign on the blog. And the last 20 seconds (with the payoff twist) were cut off.

2) The Sawdoctors Song is Red Cortina - a very much better shout than my SawDocs one.

Ok this is a folk song so maybe innapropriate but possibly the most beatiful song I`ve ever heard.My dad would play it on our holiday trips from Paisley to Castle Sween caravan park on the Kintyre peninsula.My imagination would run riot as we made our way through the winding forrest roads.
