New Phone, New Finger Cramp

Chris Evans | 10:09 UK time, Wednesday, 31 March 2010

New phone today, same maker as my last. Looks almost exactly the same but the buttons are giving my severe thumb cramp - something must have changed slightly.

My goodness, I can even feel the tendon in my upper right arm stiffening like it's suffered an assault from a large hypodermic injection.

What to do ?

In other news, Jonny and I are about to freeze our bits off rowing in, or should that be on, the River Thames.

Hope to talk to you tomorrow !

Quick Bite And Then - The End

Chris Evans | 10:27 UK time, Tuesday, 30 March 2010

Stopped off for a proper bit of brekkie before finishing Book ll.

Today is the day.

5 p.m. is the deadline - any time after that, and this author will be toast !

One major insert to put in, and a bit of tidying...and then one very large pint of celebratory beer will be downed - perhaps even two - but no more, as we are rowing on the Thames tomorrow with Sir Matthew P. for Sporting Challenge Number 11.

So what did you do for the first time today ? Finished my second book !

What to write next ?

Birthday Anyone ?

Chris Evans | 10:16 UK time, Monday, 29 March 2010

Our boss Hells Bells from Hull, Jonny, and myself - all within four days of each other. Now what are the chances of that ? And Helen and Jonny are the same age, to boot !

Hells was gifted wine from - I'd like to say my cellar but I have to be honest and say the wooden box in the corner of my office - Johnny will be gifted windscreen wash: non vintage.

As for me, I really don't want anything. I honestly have everything I need and I'm still here, which for a while looked like very long odds.

I hope your Monday is the best it can be.

Lots of love,

At The Train Station With Noah, Tash and Jonny!

Chris Evans | 11:05 UK time, Friday, 26 March 2010

So here's the scoop. Haven't been able to say all week but Jonny and his family, and me and my family are going to Disneyland in Paris.

Now the reason we haven't been able to utter a peep is because it's a surprise for Jonny's kids, and they would have heard if we had said anything.

So we are off together and are very very excited !

Jonny's little boy is definitely going to explode now he knows where he is going - as might I - I have to say.

You lot keep rocking and look after yourselves.

Late Night Gang Show

Chris Evans | 17:28 UK time, Thursday, 25 March 2010

The team were out and about on the town last night.

There was a show, there were a couple of glasses of fizz for the girls; and there was a midnight snack before we all turned in at the hotel with the mad lift - you have to go up to go down - and that's only when the lift feels like it! Otherwise it's the fire escape, and then Russian roulette with the alarmed doors.

Everyone was in pretty fine fettle considering.

Oh, oh - and the really big news, Foxy from Drive Time has had cub number three - hurrah for life !

Have a good day great people of the blog. There are no finer individuals on the face of the earth.

It's 5-4 in my favour after our first nine Sporting Challenges. I was two down, but have pulled back with three wins on the bounce.

Haven't really bowled before, but am looking forward to it.

First Brekkie team outing tonight - a show, then food. Dinner is booked at 10.45 ! Wowza.

MUST SLEEP THIS AFTERNOON !!!

No Sleep Till Showtime

Chris Evans | 10:13 UK time, Tuesday, 23 March 2010

Did not sleep a wink last night - literally, not for a second...crazy potatoes.

I know exactly why - I was too excited, so excited that I was fretting. Fretting in the dark, which seems to last so much longer than in the daylight.

I fretted in the bedroom, in my study, in the living room, back in my study and then back in my bed.

I had something on my mind - so I know what it was that was keeping me awake - I just hopes it all dies down in time for tonight.

Feel like a total space cadet now, so need to get some 'zeds' for re-entry to the earth's atmosphere, sometime later on this afternoon.

Give my regards to your planet.

Super Weekends - More Please

Chris Evans | 10:20 UK time, Monday, 22 March 2010

Two absolutely brilliant days. Super Saturday at my pub was off the scale. Our lovely chef Paval and the boys in the kitchen prepared some of the best food I have ever eaten.

The oxtail gnocchi was simply marvellous - to die for.

Supercar Sunday was almost too successful, over a thousand people turned up and they brought the best day of the year so far with them - exactly like last year.

A truly great 48 hours. Thank you to everyone involved.

Back to writing book two today, I have so nearly finished it. First draft that is.

Have a wonderful day you lot !

That Was The Week That Was

Chris Evans | 13:33 UK time, Friday, 19 March 2010

I've only just realised that title can be pronounced two ways.

That was the week that was - indicating a double past tense.

And then perhaps in a Cornish accent - 'That was the week, that was' - to suggest a reconfirming of the week gone by.

No matter, I've done so many things in the last five days, my head is spinning for all the opposite reasons that it used to. Sobriety and toil taking the place of drunkenness and apathy.

An awards show with Ronnie Corbett last night, basketball with Jonny and John Amaechi on Wednesday; a birthday party for my agent later that evening. Dinner with Parky and his Missus tonight. Super Saturday tomorrow, and Supercar Sunday the day after - plus 10,000 more words down on the book...and the first interview for the new book ! Then there's the small matter of a Breakfast show every day, and Tash and Noah as the icing on the cake.

More of the same next week, just gonna have a quick snooze, think I'm gonna need it.

So it's good night from me.

And it's good night from him.

Good night.

Super Saturday - Super Food.

Chris Evans | 12:55 UK time, Thursday, 18 March 2010

We're looking into making Moira's Munch Bunch Book happen for Children In Need - probably gonna call it Breakfast & Beyond!

Talking of food...

Just received the menu for Saturday's rugby do at our pub.

Wales vs Italy - Welsh Rarebit & Oxtail Ragu Gnocci

Scotland vs Ireland - Haggis and Tatties & Irish Beef and Guinness Pie with puff pastry.

England vs France - Fish and Chips & Bouef Bourgignon.

Better stop eating now then.

I love food. . .

Show Today, Basketball This Afternoon and Then Some.

Chris Evans | 09:33 UK time, Wednesday, 17 March 2010

Agent's birthday dinner tonight - in town, and he's still so small ! My agent, other than Frankie Dettori, Willie Carson and Ronnie Corbett is the smallest man in show business, he has bottles of wine that are bigger than he is. Not that this holds him back, not for a second, in fact it only serves to make him stand taller when he does what he does.
"No one knows how tall you are on the phone Christopher.," he often declares.

Being smaller also has several distinct advantages, one of which is making other things seem big !

Good for him.

Happy birthday Michael, we have one of the longest lasting relationships in this business and it looks like we're stuck with each other.

Tidy Studio Means Tidy Show.

Chris Evans | 09:58 UK time, Tuesday, 16 March 2010

Today for the first time since we started at The Breakkie Show, I found I had time to clean up before we came off the air - almost as we went along in fact, like a conscientious cook might. And it felt damn good.

Then in walks Rabbi Pete and tells me there's a new moon and it's the Spring moon which is the one that symbolises a new start - hence the Spring cleaning theory.

So what has happened here, I think it's down to the caffeine-free, herbal tea/Prof Brian Cox constellation inspiration. I think the moon told me to clean up and now because I'm less full of poison, I was able to hear this time.

Or am I just full of something else and I should shut up ? Ha ha.

There We Were And Here We Go

Chris Evans | 10:53 UK time, Monday, 15 March 2010

Mothering Sunday, F1 Dull in Bahrain and Noah's last ever bottle - of baby milk that is.

Plus another slice of magic delivered by ProfBriCox on Wonders of The Solar System.

Woke up today having decided at some point during my sleep that I will have a caffeine free week and so it is thus far but I have to admit I do fear the frothy coffee man on Thursday - do I take the day off to avoid him, allow myself "just the one" like a boozer in denial, or what do I do?

Right need to get home and get on with last few chapters of book ll - A40 here I come !!!!

The Alien is our new friend

Chris Evans | 13:18 UK time, Thursday, 11 March 2010

So we have this idea of an alien - a friendly alien - and we have to give him one thing that represents each aspect of human life. The quintessential representative of each category.

This morning: 'Consider Yourself' was the song the Breakfast Show audience deemed "the" quintessential track from all musicals ever written - love it.

What I'm thinking about now, are the categories of representing next:

Best Sports Person to represent Team Earth: Ali, Hoy ?

Best Pet: A dog, surely ?

Best Human: Mandela ?

What are the ten things we should give to the alien ?

Another Sporting Challenge, Another Car Journey With Jonny

Chris Evans | 10:07 UK time, Wednesday, 10 March 2010

Jonny and I off to for the snooker challenge, and today we are singing sporting theme tunes on the way.

He does a particularly good snooker rendition which starts ga dink, ga dink - dink.

May have to resurrect the old Pot Black theme for tomorrow's show.

Just been down Pall Mall - Jonny v excited in a Monopoly sort of way.

Suited and booted, both of us - have to be - in a dress code fashion.

Here goes nothing - bring on the baize.

The More I See You. . .

Chris Evans | 06:29 UK time, Tuesday, 9 March 2010

Saw the Simon Cowell Piers Morgan interview last night - the more I see of him (Cowell) the more I like him.

He confesses, he can't sing, dance or play an instrument, but that his talent is spotting talent. Basically he is a superfan who then bothers doing something about it.

We were both offered the same job once - as a judge on Popstars The Rivals, the show that gave birth to Girls Aloud. We both turned it down for the same reasons - because they wouldn't let us manage the band we chose.

There's also a story we both turned down The Spice Girls - not true. He offered them double the money but was too late and I, well . . . You know the rest.

But his success just shows you what you can do, as long as you believe in yourself and your own opinion, two things that hopefully are achievable for everyone.

Have a nice day - after the show I'm off to present an award to a bloke some of you may have heard of...but more than that I cannot say..

All White Everyone!

Chris Evans | 12:35 UK time, Monday, 8 March 2010

So we're back - and how good did it feel?

Plus God gave us a Heaven sent morning with which to celebrate.

There's a picture of me in the papers today where I look 130 years old with white hair and blue lips.

It was taken outside my house on Saturday, after I had been driving a car with the roof down for an hour. I have since checked and have decided today is a good day, as I only look around 60 - oh alright then, 65.

In my garage writing my second book. A lot of the big heavy content out of the way, so may jump around a bit to more recent goings on - lots of stories there too !

Give my regards to the young people,

Grandad Lambie Pie.
