Nottingham Forest beat Charlton Athletic 2-0 and Swansea City beat Sheffield United 3-0.

Nottingham Forest had a shock 出乎意料的 win against Charlton with a 2-0 score 比分.

However, the Forest boss was keeping his focus 集中精力 on the Premiership, saying:

"We’ll take some joy" means that they are happy about the match. He was not completely happy though, as his aim is to get into the Premiership next season.

Calderwood was keen to show the fans that Nottingham’s recent bad luck 运气不佳 was over after losing to Oldham 5-0 on the 1st January. He said:

Future Hopes  We hope to have restored some faith in our fans. We must prove that was a one-off.   Colin Calderwood, Nottingham Forest manager

"Restored some faith" 重整信心 means to bring back a belief in the fans that Nottingham can do well. "One-off" 一次性的 means a situation which will not happen again.

Charlton boss, Alan Pardew admitted his side got what they deserved. He said:

We got what we deserved  The spine of the team was not there. Forest were really fired up after their recent form and played terrifically well. I hope we don’t get too down on ourselves.   Alan Pardew, Charlton Athletic manager

"Spine" 脊椎 is the same as backbone. He means that important players were missing from the team due to injury.

"Fired up" 兴奋的 means excited and motivated. He didn’t want the players to "get too down" 情绪低落 which means depressed.
