For Sport Relief 2010 comedian Ruby Wax provides an entertaining demonstration of the Bootybuster for the Dragons as Jennifer Thorpe and Deborah Riseborough present a confident and informative pitch.
With the presentation over Ruby leaves the Den to continue watching downstairs with the parting words 'don't leave until they give you cash'.
An unconvinced Peter Jones remarks their invention looks like 'an upside-down dustbin lid with tennis balls in it'. Jennifer confirms it is a prototype and they are cut up balls but it has potential and it is an alternative to cosmetic procedures.
Duncan Bannatyne doesn't hide his feelings and declares the idea ridiculous, much to the disgust of Ruby downstairs. There's already a multitude of devices on the market that do similar things. Deborah concedes this but there isn't one that does it all in one piece.
Deborah Meaden queries their scientific research, Jennifer explains they were awarded a grant and worked in collaboration with Portsmouth University. Their prototypes were assessed and they can now use the statement 'the Bootybuster creates more muscle activity in the core than products such as the Swiss Ball'.
With all this fitness talk downstairs Evan feels like having a go, Ruby gets him to feel her stomach and advises it wasn't like that before she tried the fitness device.
Continuing Deborah asks if they have any design protection and Jennifer confirms they have a patent filed on the roll bar feature that helps stop people falling off.
The next Dragon to interrogate the sisters is James Caan, who wants to know more about their business plan. Deborah replies they haven't sold anything yet as it is still in the prototype stage. The Dragon goes on to pull apart their business valuation as it is based on numbers; he believes they have made up.
The girls stumble for the first time and they reveal they have had no experience of running their own business.
With a further blow James concludes there is no market for their invention and their valuation model 'is the most ridiculous model' he has ever heard in his life. He's out.
Theo admits they may sell a few but not enough make him money and he shows his red card.
Going with his instinct Peter believes they have over valued their business and there is better competition out there. It's not an investment for him, he's out.
Duncan was impressed by their good presentation but there is a big potential for larger companies to come up with something similar that doesn't cut across their patent. So for that reason he's out.
Deborah also liked the girls pitch but questions the need for their product. Jennifer strives to pull their pitch back informing the Dragon they have taken the prototype to several big companies and they have had excellent interest.
However for Deborah it's all about numbers and when the girls are unable to provide any order numbers the Dragon declares herself out.
Their Sports Relief celebrity Ruby, clearly upset at the out come, announces 'Isn't business cruel'.
It's a disappointing end for the sisters and they leave the Den with nothing.
