I am researching the military career of a great uncle of mine Sgt. George Fitzpatrick (1866342) of 1 Supply Base Depot, Royal Engineers, who was killed, aged 30, along with approx. 800 others, including civilians, French and British servicemen, in a Luftwaffe attack on Rennes, Brittany, France on Monday 17th June 1940. It is understood George and the other British casualties were in a troop train in the vicinity of the railway station. They are buried in the CWGC section of Rennes Eastern Communal Cemetery.
It is hoped to source as much information as is available on events in Rennes at that time.
