Age Concern Durham County has an Intergenerational Programme which organises projects and events to encourage older and younger people to work together.
We held an event at Durham Light Infantry Museum, in which older people from across the county shared their memories and stories from WW2, through group reminiscence sessions led by Jack Drum Arts.
The afternoon was spent at Clayport Library, where A level History students were on hand to help record the stories onto the People's War website.
The day was really interactive and very enjoyable for all concerned. The mix of participants and experiences resulted in many different stories being recorded. We have produced a booklet of all of the stories recorded, which is available free of charge. Call 0191 3863856 for details.
Following the success of this event, the 大象传媒 Bus is coming to Age Concern House on 3rd August, to give more people the opportunity to register their stories. We expect to be able to add lots more interesting stories to the website.
