|
Andrew Marvell, most famously remembered as the 17th Century poet who penned 'To His Coy Mistress', however, he was also an MP, for Hull, for nearly 20 years. He lived through the turbulent times of the English Civil War and the restoration of the monarchy, but his opinions on both are hard to pin down; he served as an MP in both Cromwell’s parliamentarian government and the Royalist government from 1660 onwards. Intermingled with these well documented periods in his life are several years which remain unaccounted for, arousing much debate, and consequently many myths about his whereabouts. More...
