Hollie Andrew plays Jude Wardlaw

Supernova returns to 大象传媒 TWO for second series

Jude Wardlaw (Hollie Andrew)

Dr Jude Wardlaw - a brilliant conventional scientist and a hippy chick who lets the astrology columns guide her life - is an amusing mass of contradictions. Her colleagues might all be professional stargazers, but Jude is the only staff member truly at one with the universe.

In one way Jude is probably the most normal person at the Royal Australian Observatory (RAO). She's kind-hearted, bouncy, outspoken and wryly funny.

Jude and Mike have a competitive brother/sister relationship going on. Unlike him, though, Jude has really lived. She studied at Princeton, trekked in Nepal and even served time in a Thai prison.

Jude believes in science, but she also believes in karma - and of course true love. She's going to find out that opposites do indeed attract when she meets a local farm boy in Supernova II.

Hollie Andrew plays Jude Wardlaw

"Jude is much more of a woman this series. She's now more of a lady than a tomboy," Hollie says. "She's still very holistic, still into her chakras and karmas, but she's not the same person she was."

Of Jude's relationship with Paul, Hollie comments: "She definitely doesn't have such a serious case of tunnel vision when it comes to Paul this time round. She'll always fancy him, but he's more of a mate now."

But she suspects Jude has always had more of a crush on Paul than true love, and this series sees her character diverted by a romantic interlude with local grazier Jeff.

She explains: "Jeff gives Jude love and attention, which is something she really craves deep down." Hollie laughs: "It's nice to see her have a bit of a love story."

She adds: "Jude is always like the middle child. Rachel and Paul are the two siblings and Jude seems to get left to one side. She's always the bridesmaid and never the bride."

Hollie loves performing comedy: "This series we're all going places we didn't go last time."

A graduate of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, Hollie has worked in musical theatre, television and film.

Her role in Somersault, which was chosen to screen in the Cannes Film Festival's Un Certain Regard, saw her nominated for an AFI Award.

Hollie starred in and produced 2006 Tropfest short film Anniversary. Her television credits include Home and Away and All Saints.
