Supernova听

Rob Brydon as Dr Paul Hamilton and Kat Stewart as Dr Rachel Mann

Supernova returns to 大象传媒 TWO for second series

Dr Rachel Mann (Kat Stewart)

Rachel Mann possesses that knockout combination the average woman loathes and all men crave: beauty and brains. Her commanding intellect and confident sexuality initially left poor Paul a blithering mess.

How things have changed.

While in series one there was little doubt that Paul didn't stand a chance with Kat, the pair's relationship is now one of equals and the unrequited simmer between them may well start to boil before the end of the second series.

Paul's new found sense of adventure and his ability to dust himself off and keep trying after any set back has not gone unnoticed by Dr Mann. Don't be at all surprised if her relationship with her astronaut fianc茅 Chad comes into question in the course of series two.

Kat Stewart plays Dr Rachel Mann

This time around Kat describes Rachel as being: "In a much better mood!"

She continues: "Sandy [Johnson, director] encouraged me to relax as a character and not be so firm. He is hilarious to work with. As soon as I heard he was one of the Knights who say Ni (from Monty Python's Holy Grail), I didn't need to know anything else!"

Kat was thrilled when she was nominated for an Astra and a Logie award for her performance in Supernova.

"David Maher came out to the set early one morning with a text message on his phone and showed it to me; I didn't really believe him, so I had to check my computer that night at home!"

Kat has worked consistently in Australian film, stage and television since graduating from the National Theatre Drama School in 1998. Her stage credits include roles in Lysistrata and A Midsummer Night's Dream for the National Theatre, and The Three Musketeers for the Australian Shakespeare Company.

She is a member of the Red Stitch Actors Theatre; in 2005 she won a Green Room Award for Female Actor in the Fringe/Independent Theatre category for Bug/The Shape of Things. Kat was nominated for a 2006 TV Week Logie Award - the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Performance by an Actor.

Her television credits include: Blue Heelers, Stingers, Last Man Standing, Crashburn and The Secret Life of Us. She will be seen later this year in the film MacBeth playing Lady MacDuff.
