Botis Seva established dance company Far From The Norm in 2009, with an interest in experimenting with hip hop whilst challenging conventions within dance theatre. He works collaboratively with his artistic team to present a commentary on socio-political issues and is recognised for his uncensored approach. Far From The Norm have toured nationally and internationally with a work portfolio that crosses theatre performances, outdoor spectacles and immersive experiences.
Last year, Botis was commissioned to create Tutumucky by Fleur Darkin on Scottish Dance Theatre, a work questioning dance form elitism. The work premiered in Dundee and toured internationally. Botis was awarded first place at the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition and Choreography 30 in Hannover, Germany. As part of his prize, he undertook a two-week residency with Gary Stewart’s Australia Dance Theatre in Australia. 2019 sees Botis as the guest artistic director of National Youth Dance Company.
