Julia Cheng

Luton-London based Julia Cheng is a creative director with extensive expertise in dance and self-produced work. Her experience as a dance practitioner spans over 15 years in the industry, from which she has obtained an impressive portfolio of commissioned works and funded projects.

A versatile performer and choreographer, in 2014 she founded House of Absolute, an all-female collective of multidisciplinary dancers. Her influences have led to cross-collaborative works with artists in contemporary dance, music, painting, visual art and poetry.

Having judged, won and competed in many Hip Hop battles since 2007, her reputation has led to her being chosen to feature in high profile campaigns with Dr Martens, Vogue Italia, Kowtow New Zealand and 大象传媒 World Service Persia.

Julia also has many stage and theatre commissions including works for London Jazz Festival, Sadler’s Wells Theatre, V&A Museum, Southbank Centre, Birmingham Hippodrome, London Symphony Orchestra’s CONTOUR, British Council Cairo, China Changing Festival, Jazz Refreshed, Love Supreme Festival, University of Hertfordshire and many more.
