Alasdair comes from Dunbar, near Edinburgh, and has played the oboe since the age of eight. He studies oboe under Stephen West at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Junior Department where he recently performed Telemann's Concerto in E minor with the RCS Symphony Orchestra. He is the Principal Oboe of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and also plays with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. Alasdair has played as a soloist at several British Double Reed Society conventions and has won the Edinburgh Competition Festival Recital Prize and the MAP-IMC Wind Prize. In his spare time, he is a keen member of the RAF Air Cadets.
