Safety Advice Line
The Safety Advice Line is a service provided by the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s Safety Team.
Tel: 0370 411 0464
E-mail: safety@bbc.co.uk
Who can call us: ´óÏó´«Ã½ employees and ´óÏó´«Ã½ productions only
What about: We maintain the myRisks Information site (which includes the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Safety Guidelines), co-ordinate the safety vetting of Independents and manage access to the Safety Hub (our online safety tool for documenting risk assessments, accidents, incidents and near misses and safety assurance monitoring). When they aren't available, we also provide back-up support to the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s .
Also, your query may be better addressed by other support services within the ´óÏó´«Ã½, including:
- - for property-related issues. They also handle permits for filming in ´óÏó´«Ã½ buildings
- - we know you need it but how much and what type isn't something we can help with, but the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Insurance team can
- Safety Equipment Store - they are separate from us so we can't help with orders or returns
- - we don't advise directly on health matters, but our Occupational Health Service Partner does
- - we can deal with most issues concerning myRisks tools and access, but if its a network or browser issue, then you'll need to speak to IT.
Emergencies in ´óÏó´«Ã½ premises
To report an emergency within a ´óÏó´«Ã½ building, including summoning the emergency services (UK), contact the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s National Central Control Room (NCCR)
For Ambulance, Fire or Police assistance.
When a person or building are in danger call the ´óÏó´«Ã½
National Central Control Room (NCCR)

Some buildings have local arrangements to dial 999 to summon emergency services locally. When that's the case use that system.
Please note: some ´óÏó´«Ã½ buildings are not linked to this service, in which case you should dial "999" and ask to be put through to Police, Fire or Ambulance.
If someone requires first aid;
Contact local First Aider – Via Security (in your building) and/or Local noticeboards have details
If you cannot find one quickly contact National Central Control Room (NCCR)who may be able to assist
If you think an ambulance is required:
Contact the National Central Control Room (NCCR) and tell them that an ambulance is needed tell them where the casualty is.
If you can’t contact the NCCR, or there are different arrangements locally, then call 999.
Ensure that you inform them of the address of the building and the location of the casualty in the building.
Contact the local Facilities Managers, the local security department or reception to inform them of the situation.
Stay with the casualty until help arrives.
´óÏó´«Ã½ Emergency Information Service: the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s ‘159’ Emergency Information Service can be used to keep you informed of major emergencies affecting the ´óÏó´«Ã½, for example, major security alerts, fires or power failures at the larger ´óÏó´«Ã½ buildings.
