The lower reaches of the River Clyde

Description

Presenter Tess travels down the River Clyde in Scotland to its mouth. Old and new buildings can be seen from the water, as well as modern industrial and retail sites. Boats can travel 27km from Greenock to Glasgow, although the Clyde is actually much longer than this. It becomes impassable to boats further upstream, where it is narrow and very shallow.

Classroom Ideas

Students could work in small groups to research some of the famous sights along the river Clyde, from its source to where it joins the sea in Greenock. Each student could then choose one of these sights to depict in a piece of artwork. They could use a wide range of media including paint, chalk pastels or collage. The drawings could then be arranged in order to create a 鈥楽ail Down the River Clyde鈥 display.
