Week 2
Welcome to week two of Saturday Live. Fi will be back blogging tomorrow but while she's enjoying the sunshine (or more likely haggling over the hangers in TopShop) the team and I have been thrashing through ideas for this week's show. Many thanks to everyone who's got in touch so far.
We've found our first guerilla reporter and I'll be checking out some of your podcast suggestions this afternoon. Jackie Clune will definitely be revealing her Inheritance Tracks. But we're also interested in real life stories that might be linked to the news in some way. So we're starting to look for a reformed pathological liar - although would we be able to believe anything they say? We're also interested in finding a priest who left the church for love, or the man/woman who enticed them away, and someone who's been the victim of mistaken identity. Think of the paediatrician who was mistaken for a paedophile, or the woman with the misfortune to look a little like Maxine Carr. If you can think of anyone who might fit any of the above descriptions please do get in touch. Or if you know of someone whose story really needs to be told, drop us a line. I know it's early days but this is YOUR show - we can't do it without you.

Complain about this postin ages past there was the window tax and now I hear tell there is a proposed bed tax! Whatever next, are we to be forced to sleep on the floor to make ends meet?
Complain about this post"And in a moment, we'll be going over to Home Truths where David Stafford will be talking to a priest who left the church for love, and the woman who enticed him away; plus a Warwickshire man who's been the victim of mistaken identity ..."
yawn
Complain about this postMmmmm ok, any chance of some live music.... or perhaps a roving person out to find some music? ( Heaven forbid on radio 4 ) but it would make things a little different.
Look forward to seeing some more poets, maybe John Cooper Clarke?
This slot has been a bit "giffery" since demise of HT and am sure Fi can give it a kick in the perverbial pants.
Good luck

Complain about this postGreat to have you back again Fi, after spending far too long off air. You're one of the few people who make me laugh out lough while listening to the radio. I was sorry when you had to leave to Sunday morning programme but great to hear you back on Sat mornings now. I really like the mix of topic issues and humour, and the totally relaxed atmosphere. Great! No more babies for a while please.
On 19-IX-2006, Oscar Haza [host of a Round Table TV Program on a US Latin Station called America Teve] dedicated a segment to the increasingly hostile relations betweens Christians and Muslims in Miami Florida [secondary to Pope Benedict XVI's Speech, Iraq's Al Qaeda Threat to the Western World, and Ayatollah Khameini's Speech on IRIB [Iranian TV] on Benedict XVI.
The Guests were Father Alberto Cutie [Roman Catholic Priest who hosts his own talk show on the Catholic Stations EWTN and Radio Paz], a Professor of Theology of the University of Miami [who is an Atheist], a Rabbi, and a Spokesman for the Islamic School of Miami.
The Topic was how to resolve the growing rift between Muslims and Christians in Miami. Many proposals came such as debates between the faiths or a symposium in which all of the religions [including atheism which is a religion that denies the existence of a God] could get together.
Unfortunately, there are no quick sollutions.
