Podcast Pickle
Gary Leyland aka P.Dilly runs the directory, a veritable mine of podcasting gold.
He sorts the wheat from the online chaff to bring us one of the most comprehensive selections of podcasts in the world, from the sublime (Advice on Scrap Booking ) to the ridiculous (Bonsai Talk Radio). We stumbled across last week's gem Reels and Rounds Radio in his directory and now fisherman Randy Larson is our new best friend.
Gary's weekly dispatch Today in Podcasting is our Podcast of The Week. Fresh back from Podcast Expo 2006 Gary and his co presenters Rob and David delivered another in their series of pod related chat providing technical tips and dispensing advice on everything from the best microphones to where to find pod safe music.
You can listen yourself or just browse the for obscure listening pleasures.

Hi,
I'm an English Sydney-based podcaster and Radio 4 listener. (When are you going to do the decent thing and podcast "The Archers"???)
I have two podcasts I'd love you to try. The first is (www.inlatteveritas.com), a five-minute almost-daily show where we debate the issues of the day from a cafe in Manly. It ranges from the serious (friendship, truth, beauty) to the less serious (who should own buried treasure?).
The other is a "manners" show where we discuss how to get on with people in today's world - getting your round in, dating, office etiquette, etc. It's called (www.therules.com).
That said, it would be craven of me to ask you to listen to my podcasts without mentioning that, as a podcaster, I didn't think much of the interview with Gary. Who calls podcasts "pods", for a start?
Cheers,
Steven

Re dementia
I was interested in the comment that dementia can reveal the essence of the person. We all acquire inhibitions as we grow up. They regulate our social behaviour and they can protect us. We also learn to rationalise the difficult childhood experiences. My recent experience as a carer/husband suggests that with loss of short term memory a patient may regress to early years and can lose those protections, revealing not so much the essence of the person as the baggage imposed in childhood. Dementia is far less kind than your contributor suggests.
