Antonio Carluccio is a man who we can credit with helping to bring the joys of Italian food to this country and although his foccaccia is at the top of the Foccaccia Pricing Index, who can really put a figure on oozing olive oil dripping out of a slab of spongy bread baked to a luscious crust and salted to perfection?

My late Father used to use a stick like this when a Scout Commissioner in the '50's, but nothing like as beautiful - fantastic!!

Complain about this postI lstened to Anthony Carluccio this morning and could not wait to see the stick he had whittled. It really is magnificent. I still don't understand the procedure. How is the pattern made? is it bits of bark that form the pattern? I would love to do this. I have been to this lovely man's restaurant in Covent Garden, it was wonderful. Best Wishes Elizabeth

I try to keep my own cut sticks quite smart, but I think the whittling on this stick is too semetrical to be "done" whilst being being interviewed, OR I am am extremely enviouse and totally impressed by Antonio's handiwork. Probably the latter.
