I was interested to hear Cerys Bannister's take on life. It could have been my (only just-)former girlfriend speaking. She is also a surgeon (a veterinary ophthalmologist in her case) and has ambitions to breed dogs and sheep on her own smallholding. She also adheres strongly to the belief that once you've made a tough decision you must never waver. Which is why she just dumped me out of her life and won't countenance a reconcilliation. Did Cerys I wonder find happiness and fulfillment in her personal life as well as professionally?

By chance I tuned into your item on personal life philosophies.

One of your contributors mentioned that on her 40th birthday she told her friends it was pay back time for things she had done for them in the past. I heard another mention that her mother told her she should always put into the pot because one day she would need to take out of it.

At best this is conditional love and at it's worst it
is the philosophy of the Mafia!

Don't we all strive to provide support for our friends, family and humanity in general without being asked for or expecting the return of favours.

    The ideal philosophy should surely
NOT BE the cynical 'WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?' but

    'HOW CAN I HELP?'
    (Goodness is its own reward)

    Hi Anonymous,

Sorry about the problems with displaying the number of comments to a post. We agree that it is frustrating.

There seems to be a glitch with the blogging software we use. It has been reported to our technical bods and they say thery're investigating it.

Let's hope it gets sorted out soon.

    Yours,

    Kyren
