Moving On Up
It's taken a while but the Saturday Live team has at last been given its own office. Up until now we've been spread around Broadcasting House, occasionally bumping into each other at the stationary drawer (only kidding - we have two).
The bosses must think we're here to stay so we're getting our own desks and 'phones and everything. We're moving up to an area hitherto known as the FlexiZone. It sounds like it's one big yoga mat but really, it IS a functioning office where we'll all continue to work extremely hard and if I catch Torquil slipping into the pose of a cobra, he won't know what's hit him - karma or no karma.
On the show this week Fi will be joined by comedian Sue Perkins and our poet is Murray Lachlan-Young. They've both been on before and know the drill which is great for me as they can all rattle on in the studio and I can drink lots of coffee and occasionally bark "30 seconds to go!" into Fi's headphones (but not too loudly on account of the hangover - mine not hers!).
Subjects we're considering for this Saturday's programme include transsexuality in line with the latest developments arising from the Gender Recognition Act. There will also be an inspiring interview with Kevin Alderton who was blinded during a vicious attack but went on to set the record for blind speed-skiing. Chef Antonio Carluccio tells us what he gets up to in secret and you'll hear some stirring inheritance tracks.
Let's hope Fi likes the sound of it all. She'll be in the office tomorrow for our programme meeting and if she thinks we've done a poor job, we'll be in big trouble and I bet she'll make us go upstairs for some team yoga.
