Stranded at the airport
Planes have been grounded and flights cancelled for the last two days, mainly out of London airports – causing what we like to call ‘travel chaos’. It brings back memories for Roberta Greenhalgh.
She found herself stranded in Chicago after the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Roberta had just finished accompanying her husband on his last ever business trip. She’d had to pluck up enough courage to leave her four children for the first time - the youngest was just 8 at the time - but they’d had had a fantastic 4 days in Chicago and she was looking forward to coming home....
Stranded at the airport - What a load of worthless tosh from a siily woman who seems to be scared of her own shadow and totally clueless if her flight gets cancelled. She really should stay at home with her children.

Pathetic. I am sure there are far more interesting and amusing anecdotes arising from 9/11. For example, my neph. He was also stranded in New York but he didn't have access to the funds which would allow him just to extend his visit in relative comfort. Much more of a test of initiative and resourcfulness.

I have never emailed radio 4 before but I have to admit that your item about being stranded at the airport was the most boring item I have ever listened to. Sorry to be so negative I'm sure it is difficult to put a programme together each week and at least it has made me find the radio 4 homepage I guess.
