Dickie Davies
Dickie Davies picks this week's Inheritance Tracks.
The piece of music passed down to Dickie is the Welsh hymn 'Dafydd y Garreg Wen' (David of the White Rock), this version comes from the album Comrades In Arms by the Pendyrus Male Choir. The track he'd like to pass on is 'Everything's Coming Up Roses' from the musical Gypsy.
Cool, clear water by Marty Robbins. You'll find it on Gunfighter ballads.
an excellent album
Complain about this postI just switched on to hear one of your contributors lamenting that she liked a cowboy song called "Cool Waters" but couln't trace it. The song can be found on the B side of a 1962 (or thereabouts) hit single called "Walk right In" by the Rooftop Singers; I don't know if that is the version she remembers, but it was a 45 not a 78!
Complain about this postI loved hearing the Welsh hyms in this morning's programme. When a young girl in Scotland we used to go to international rugby matches at Murrayfield in Edinburgh. I used to love the Welsh ones because of the singing.
Please could someone let me know the album or CD details of 'Dafydd y Garreg Wen' (David of the White Rock) that was played this morning? It was beautiful.
Thank you
