things you wish you had known....
Apparently we have a chef on the programme this week who is so rude about Valentine's Day diners we have had to introduce him anonymously just in case of reprimands and retributions. It seems odd as the world of chefdom appears to be full of four letter words, general foul mouthery and bad behaviour.
Anyway - we don't want to add to it too much so it's only a short piece. It's in our 'If Only I'd Known' slot which should be self explanatory really.
Now would be a good time to send in details of your own 'If Only I'd Known' story as I believe that the file is a little empty right now and you never want to miss an opportunity to get on Radio 4. Short, long, tall or hairy - just send us a brief outline and we'll get back to you if we think it's any good.
Look forward to hearing from you

Rock- balancing article still on Wikipedia. There are now three people quoted (including Dave).
Complain about this postHi Fi!
I鈥檝e been thinking of ways to make some easy cash and thought that getting a magazine-type programme commissioned for Radio 4 might be a good start. The show (provisionally titled Money for Old Rope) would have minor celebrities with impeccable left-liberal credentials talking in a smug manner about themselves, their work, and the world in general. Unfortunately I don鈥檛 know any people like that and was wondering if I could borrow the contact list of your booker, or maybe that of Start the Week or Midweek. Heck, any Radio 4 contact list will do. Failing that, I鈥檇 settle for similar info from Simon Mayo or Julian Worricker over on Radio Five Live.
Hope you can help.

Complain about this postSaturday morning has been transformed for me since the advent of Saturday Live. I will not leave the house, often preferring to get a cup of tea and stay in bed listening to it. I love this programme, Fi Glover is excellent, as she was on Broadcasting House on Sundays (also still an excellent programme, even without the magic if Fi). The guests, the poets, the stories, the inheritance tracks - all make an excellent mix. I could listen to it all day, the hour goes much too quickly. Thank you Fi!!!
Complain about this postThis 'chef' sounds like one of those guys who thinks he is even funnier when he's drunk. 'Chef first, friend second,....and probably entertainer third' -to paraphrase David Brent.
He also contradicts himself by stating at the outset that 'if he'd known about Valentine's day, he would never have become a chef'. then later making the statement that the 'refusals (to proposals of marriage) make it all worth while'.
I hope I may never eat anything he (or some same-pattern patholigical people-hater) has prepared. If antipathy were an ingredient, you could rely it would be well-seasoned with that.
Complain about this postIf I would have known not to put my foot in my mouth at times.
Complain about this posthi things I wish I'd known...... too numerous to mention but the song sang by Baz Luhrman 'everyone is free to wear sun cream' makes some VERY good points. I would like to send it to you but havent quite got the hang of this whole computer marlarky thing yet. So you might have to find it for your self.
Complain about this postWhat a sad person Bren must be if she has been transformed by Saturday Live. So have I. I spit nails whenever it comes on. We were promised a worthy successor to the late great John Peel. Instead we get a self opinonated female who thinks her arch sense of humour is funny (it isn't) and drones on in a monotone. She might have gone down big with the simple souls on Radio 5, but Saturday morning on Radio 4? It's Saturday dead. How long is this tripe going to be tolerated? I want to be able to turn my radio ON on a Saturday morning.
Complain about this postIs it possible for you to post the poem about the bear broadcast a couple of weeks ago, I only caught the tail end of it and would like to read the whole piece.
