Spurs manager, Martin Jol, gave his team credit for their performance, but emphasised that winning is the important factor.

He said his team were good but "have to stand up and be counted" 需要以胜利来证明自己的能力. He means that the team need to be dominant and be noticed, and in this context, he means they need to win.

There were plenty of nail-biting moments 激动人心，扣人心弦的时刻 in the match. United were awarded a controversial penalty after the referee judged that Ronaldo had been tripped 被谁绊倒 by Malbranque.

Perhaps the most dramatic event was when United goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar broke his nose and had to leave the pitch. Midfielder John O’Shea put on the goalkeeper’s jersey 运动衫 to repel 击退 Tottenham in the closing minutes.
