Great news.
Is there a spoiler policy?
I'm thinking of people who look away now so they can enjoy Match of the Day?
BTW any one got an opinion on the amount of FA Cup games on? Fans, I mean not moaners? I'm happy with it but I wouldn't really care if it was on say ´óÏó´«Ã½2 or 3 instead.
Looks like the been have chosen u cited on the Friday night and Everton on the Sunday...
Looking for two big shocks no doubt....
Looks like Evans is a done deal...read yesterday that his girlfriends dad and the Oldham owner are good mates...and that the father will be paying his two grand a week wages....as well as paying any shortfall if sponsors pull out....
I was disappointed there was no FA Cup match on TV Saturday afternoon. I know they showed one Sunday and Monday but Saturday afternoon is the home of football. After all the hype the ´óÏó´«Ã½ have done over having the rights it seemed odd.

I think the ´óÏó´«Ã½ are doing a good job overall and using different pundits with their own dress-styles; no appearance yet from Rita Ora though, I would like to see Sir Trevor and Garth Crookes.
And linaker is looking more and more like tom Jones by the day...
And the other day with shearer and Murphy on...it did look as if Rita ora was making an appearance...

Seems to me it's not about the football club but about getting a certain player's boots on grass, shame they are using a family club to do it!
Why do you call it a family club...
This club has history in employing such people...
Its no more a family club than any other club..
Just re read a previous thread of mine...
It should have said that the beeb have chosen united for the Friday night game..
Saturday afternoon is the home of football. Ìý
Not on TV it isn't! The football authorities have always refused to countenance the televising of Saturday matches that kick off at 3.00, on the grounds that it would discourage attendance at games.
With so many matches now being broadcast on other days and at other times to suit the broadcasters, I think that argument is becoming pretty weak.

It was always a strange argument anyway really. Do they really think people fill stadiums because they can't watch it on tv?
Yes...its anachronistic and outdated in this day and age...
Boxing day and new years day both had televised 3 pm kick offs and the grounds all over the country were full...
Nobody stops going to matches because there's a match on TV...these days...
its crazy that all we get to see is ex pros watching TV screens ..describing to us what they are seeing...
Surely the Monday night televised game would have more affect anyway. Evening kick off, dark night, work that day and the next. Make the journey to and from the match or stay at home in the warm and watch it on TV?
No..,its not the match that's being televised....its the fact that there's a full league program on the Saturday afternoon and they think TV football will affect attendances at those matches..
Therefore no live football...from any country can be shown on UK TV from 2.45 to 5.15 on a Saturday...
That makes even less sense, not doubting the fact, just their logic.

I read it as their point was that if televised games really did affect attendances, a Monday night game would be the first to indicate that fact.
Every country has a three hour gap where no live football can be shown....
Always been the case...
It was to protect the lesser clubs because they thought their attendances would suffer....
They thought nobody would go and see Stockport county if Manchester united were live on TV..
I think with so much live football and everyone able to record matches...that I don't think is the case any more...
But I don't think it will ever change...
I think they underestimate the loyalty of lower league supporters. If I got tickets to a Brighton match, Man U being on the telly wouldn't stop me going. The FA and glory supporters don't understand what supporting a lower league club is all about.
Why do you say those that support big clubs are glory supporters...
Theyre just as loyal as those of smaller clubs...
I didn't say those that support big clubs are glory supporters. I said glory supporters are glory supporters.

I'm as common as they come dear.
You both need to re read my post. I said glory supporters didn't understand, I didn't say big club fans are glory supporters. Me thinks there is some over sensitivity.

It would be good to see Sir Trevor as a pundit when West Ham contest the fourth round match.

Well you can suggest that's not what you meant after being called up on it.
i think the implication was clear considering two of us saw it for what it was. Man United being on tv immediately followed by glory supporters... nice try, but not quite nice enough.
My the sensitivity.
I must remember never to put the words Man Utd in any of my posts ever again just in case I offend someone's sensibilities. Any other clubs I shouldn't mention just in case?
I'm afraid west ham won't be on tv in the fourth round....they won't even be in the fourth round...
There's no need to get that fence out of strorage for sir Trevor to sit on..
Although I can just imagine shearer starting to creosote it already...
Just heard the evans deal is off...
I must remember never to put the words Man Utd in any of my posts ever again just in case I offend someone's sensibilities. Any other clubs I shouldn't mention just in case?Ìý
Chelski. Their new fans can be quite touchy too.

Don't see why you're getting so defensive about your snobbery its fine.
Oh dear, you obviously have trouble with my writing style, I'm not getting defensive I was smiling as I wrote that post as I think it's funny especially as you don't know who I support or why. I shall remember to include lots of and in future.

Not getting defensive whilst continually defending your posts? Okay then.

Not so done deal anymore.
Harvey sweetie, you do have this very strange notion of conversation. I think we've all met people that have to win the argument but you seem to have a desire to win every conversation, it's slightly strange.
This constant desire you have to win and also, as shown across other threads, to try and "prove" that you are more intelligent, quicker or wittier than your "opponent" is lost on me I'm afraid. I do not mind if you think you are cleverer than me, I don't even care if you ARE cleverer than me.
So if it makes you feel better, you win, you know me better than I know myself and you knew what I really meant to say even though I didn't. Congratulations old bean, I'm pleased for you and I hope my admission will put a spring in your step for the rest of the day.
Love, hugs and kisses
Giz

There's no argument to win or lose, very odd you think we are having an argument at all, let alone there could be a winner and loser.
But your second paragraph isn't defensive at all, nu-uh, nope. But thank you for delivering your verdict of what you think I think, I'm sure the irony will hit you at some point.
Yes of course, when I wrote you have to win every conversation I actually meant argument. Silly Giz, good to have your feed back Harvey, I'd be lost without it.

Just because you interchange a word for which you have already used another, doesn't mean your intentions aren't clear.
For example, that post doesn't look like you're trying to win an argument, sorry conversation, at all.
It's not you, it's everyone else.
Yes Harvey you're quite right, I just can't stop myself replying to you. Thanks for the feedback. I'm here til 4.30 ish by the way, although I think someone wishing to discuss sport my get bored before then and start triangling posts.

Why did Dee have to prefix the thread title with a year?
Threatening to rape someone as a protest against hiring a rapist has to be one of the most ludicrous things ever. So much so that I can only believe it is being done to make the opponents look bad.

This posting has been hidden during moderation because it broke the in some way.
I don't think that either side in this nasty spat can claim the moral high ground.

Lets not forget that if TV wanted a game at 3pm on a saturday i'm certain that steps would be taken to make sure it happened.
You only have to look at Rugby League were they changed even the season they played to get tv money.
He who pays the piper!!

Whatever you may assert, and for all the power of Murdoch, it has never happened.
Given that it's now over 20 years since the launch of the Premier League and the egregious and increasing dominance of Sky, they've had plenty of time to pay the piper on this. Instead, Jeff Stelling has become star hosting a live show starring pundits watching TV screens.
The interests of the travelling supporters are never taken into account when deciding the date and time of football fixtures. For example, League Cup finals often kick off at 17.00 or later. Supporters of northern clubs sometimes find it difficult or impossible to catch a train home.
Yes...Harvey...I did say that...you obviously didn't read subsequent posts...

I was quoting your post with a link.

No need to apologise Harvey...
As well you know...every post posted shows a link automatically...to which post it is in reply to...

I would rather he went to Big Brother, another show I never watch.
Re: Ched Evans -
Any idea why the ´óÏó´«Ã½ felt obliged to take the moral high ground ?
CEEFAX - NHS crisis had 2 pages, Paris terrorist massacre had 2 pages.
Ched Evans, a couple of days ago, had 26 pages dedicated to listing all the lower league clubs who the ´óÏó´«Ã½ contacted and what their comments were on whether they were interested in signing him.
26 pages !!!!!!! Was it really necessary ?
Eeek! Gordon Taylor! Poor choice of analogy there, not a good idea to connect two very sensitive issues.
I think if it was a slow news day he would get crucified by the press and be under great pressure. Events in France may mean that he gets less focus.
