One Sunday morning in the summer of 1940, my sister and I were sleeping late, and my young brother, Hugh, who was waiting to join the R.A.F, came home from his Home Guard exercises. Popping his head round the entrance to the shelter, he called out 鈥淭he invasion has started!鈥 鈥 Fortunately this turned out to be another rumour 鈥 one of so many flying around at the time.
