Hello!
I was an early member of the WW2 People's War site and have thoroughly enjoyed my time there. As that site is now archived, I am grateful for the opportunity to have my membership in the h2g2 community, where I hope to continue my discussion of WW2.
My interest in WW2 comes from my uncle, S/Sgt Billy Marfleet, who was a British Glider Pilot. He died when his glider crashed into the Channel on the night of 5/6 June 1944. You can read about him here.
I wanted to know more about Billy's experiences as a Glider Pilot, so I started my research. This has led to writing a website on the About links, co-authoring a book (One Night In June - Kevin Shannon and Stephen Wright - Airlife) on the operation in which Billy was involved and writing articles for magazines and other journals. I'm currently writing a book on Operation Varsity, the airborne assault on Germany.
I work as a researcher with About links and would be happy to help anyone with questions/queries about the role of the GPR and Airborne Forces.
