I have an interest in oral history and decided to interview my grandmother for the People's War project. My grandmother's name was Irene Cooper during the war years (nee Clements). She had two young sons at that time: Keith and Bruce. They moved house a number of times during the war, living in Hayes and in Norwood Green (with my great-grandparents) in Middlesex. My grandmother looked after my uncles until they were evacuated to Dewsbury, Yorkshire; she then worked for Government Intelligence in Aldershot and at Bletchley Park as a Code Breaker. My grandmother celebrated her 89th birthday this year. I interviewed here on Saturday 30th July 2005.

Sadly, my grandmother died on 14th September 2005.
