Being only 24, my experience of WW2 is limited to nil! I do however have a few family members with incredible WW2 stories that I believe should be shared with others before they sink into obscurity. My father in law worked on a farm in Kent during the second world war, and was aged 9 when war broke out. His stories epitomise the fear and companionship of that era.
My paternal grandfather was involved with the Desert Rats (8th army) as part of REME and travelled through North Africa into Italy and north as far as Germany. His wife, my Grandmother worked as a WRAF, mostly around Oxford.
My maternal Grandfather worked for the government during the war.
I have listened with interest to all of their stories, offering on many occasions to write them down without success. I want to post some of them here for posterity, as two of the above mentioned are no longer with us.
I have been interested in writing for as long as I can recall. I would love to write for a living and hope to at some point. I do have several pet projects, but as I worked full time I was limited in the time I could devote to them. I wanted to volunteer for this site as I know several people with wonderful stories, all of whom have difficulty expressing themselves in writing. I believe with the right encouragement anybody can write a good story.
