At the time of the 2005 competition, Tsvetana Bandalovska lived in Sofia, Bulgaria. She studied at the Pancho Vladigerov State Academy of Music, Sofia, graduating with an MA in Opera Singing in 1999, and also studied at the Michael Chekhov Foundation, Sofia. Her vocal instructors include Sima Ivanova, Charlotte Lehmann, Pavel Gerdjikov, Hristina Angelakova and Kliment Kirov.

She was a contract principal artist at the Sofia National Opera, and has won numerous awards and prizes including the silver medal in the Boris Christoff competition in 2004, and has taken part in many master classes.

Her roles have included Donna Anna Don Giovanni for Rousse State Opera; Mim矛 La boh猫me, Marguerite Faust, Li霉 Turandot, Michaela Carmen, Leonora Il trovatore for Sofia National Opera; Li霉 for Aspendos Summer Opera Festival and Miskoltz Opera Festival, Hungary; Cio-Cio-San Madama Butterfly in Rouen; Michaela in Siktivkar, Russia; Mim矛 at the Toscana Opera Festival; Donna Elvira Don Giovanni on tour in France, Desdemona Otello and Cio-Cio-San at Sofia National Opera.

She is bilingual in Bulgarian and Russian, and speaks fluent German, as well as English and Italian. In her spare time, she enjoys reading.
